Welcome to EPIC Inclusion!

Estimated reading time: 2-3 minutes

EPIC Inclusion Consulting was created with the belief that children’s community spaces should work for neurodivergent children — not the other way around.

I started EPIC because I am passionate about authentic neurodivergent inclusion. I have both experienced and heard first-hand accounts of the challenges in accessing and maintaining participation in mainstream children’s community groups. I know that organisations are trying hard, often with limited guidance and support, and I want to help them do it better.

Why inclusion matters to me

My work is shaped by both professional experience and lived experience. I am neurodivergent myself, and I am also a parent, educator, and community instructor who has worked closely with neurodivergent children for many years.

I have seen inclusion done thoughtfully, where children feel safe, regulated, and able to participate in their own way. I have also seen what happens when systems are rigid, overwhelming, or built with only “typical” children in mind.

True inclusion isn’t about perfection. It’s about listening, adjusting and removing unnecessary barriers.

What EPIC is about

EPIC works with children’s community organisations (not families directly) to strengthen neurodivergent inclusion at a systems level. That includes:

  • reviewing policies and procedures

  • looking closely at how programs actually feel for neurodivergent children

  • supporting organisations to make practical, realistic changes

  • helping staff feel more confident and less overwhelmed

This work is not about blame or compliance. It is about clarity, capacity and care.

Authentic inclusion, not tick-boxes

Inclusion is often treated as a checklist. EPIC takes a different approach.

Neurodivergent children are not problems to be fixed. They are individuals navigating environments that may be, at times, loud, fast, unpredictable, or inflexible. They have value, and they are important.

When organisations adjust environments, expectations, and communication — everyone benefits. Children participate more fully and safely. Staff feel more capable and confident. Communities become better places.

Thank you for being here!

If you’re reading this, it probably means you care about your organisation being more inclusive, even if you’re not sure where to start. That matters.

EPIC is here to support you step by step, helping you build real, lasting inclusion that respects the ways neurodivergent children experience the world.

I’m really glad you found your way here.

Erica Pitt - founder of EPIC

I’m an AuDHD parent of AuDHD kids, a primary school teacher, and a community instructor. Inclusion and advocacy aren’t just my work - they’re personal and my passion. Through EPIC, I help children’s community organisations create inclusion that is practical, respectful, and sustainable for neurodivergent children.
